Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term-time only

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our team at The Damara School. The successful candidate will support students with SEMH needs both in the classroom and during unstructured times, helping them to access the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in accessing the curriculum under teacher direction
  • Implement behavior management strategies consistent with the school's approach
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support as required
  • Support students during break and lunch times
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources
  • Contribute to record keeping and student progress monitoring
  • Participate in relevant training and development opportunities

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about SEMH needs
  • Patience, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with challenging students
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education

Desirable Qualities

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience in SEMH or SEND settings
  • Team-Teach or similar positive handling training
  • First aid qualification
