Baseline Assessment Program
When a student joins The Damara School, they participate in our comprehensive two-week baseline assessment program, which is thoughtfully integrated into the normal curriculum to minimize anxiety and provide an authentic picture of their abilities.

Personalized Learning Plan Development:
Following the baseline assessment period, our multidisciplinary team collaborates to develop a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) for each student. This comprehensive document:
- Sets realistic yet ambitious targets based on accurate starting points
- Outlines specific teaching strategies and interventions tailored to individual needs
- Incorporates elements from the student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Includes both academic and personal development goals
- Establishes clear success criteria and measurement approaches
- Identifies necessary resources and support mechanisms
Quality Assurance
To ensure our assessment practices remain robust, fair, and effective, we implement several quality assurance measures:
Regular internal and external moderation of assessments to ensure consistency.
Ongoing professional development in assessment practices specific to SEMH needs.
Regular review of assessment data to identify patterns and inform improvements.
Gathering perspectives on the assessment experience to refine our approach.
Engagement with external partners to validate our assessment framework.
